The runway shows featured plenty
of new tops silhouettes for spring 2006. The main word
is feminine with soft blouses, pretty jackets and delightful
petticoat styles shown across the board. The knit top gets
a fresh look with a boxier and sportier silhouette that
is great for layering and is a nice fresh direction after
years of snug tees. Lastly, Western styling, sweaters and
shrunken jackets in all fabrics and cuts are coming full
speed into the girls market; are you ready?
Feeling
80’s yet? The athletic tops of next spring will
be thinking inside the box for a change! A new boxy shape
will transform tees, hoodies, fleece and tanks. Bottom
bands keep things cropped while more volume is added to
sides. Hoods are still important fixtures as are 1/2 zips,
pouch pockets and dance styled slash necklines.
There
are tons of great updates to be found here from buckles
and D rings on tanks to strategic cut outs, ribbon trims
and knotted knits for tees. Don’t miss a single
pic!
Just
when we thought that the bohemian trend had run its course
comes a new wave of intensely bohemic looks! This time
out we are seeing rich and bright peasant blouses in solids,
mixed colors and in naive patterns. Layers are important
here to and patterns are layered over rich solids for
punch. Off the shoulder styling is important but for the
younger girls we need to offer more coverage with the
possibility of convertible collars or built in layers
for modesty!
Hand
in hand with the petticoat theme comes this retro infused
and highly feminine range of pretty blouses. Solid trims,
puff sleeves and pin tucks are hot but the big detail
to watch is the bottom band on voile shirts. Take some
of the details here and add them to soft knit blouses
and poplins or other light weight but not sheer fabrics.
