'What Sells' Report

Paris
December 01, 2004

In Paris, there are several great looks that are on the best seller list. At H&M, things are looking sophisticated and prim while at Printemps the best sellers are ethnically flavored and fun. A Tammy, kicked back looks are what is selling best. Take a closer look!

H&M

According to the associate here, brown, pink and cream have been the hottest colors. The jumbo houndstooth coat has been key as have the selection of fine gage sweaters in pinks and creams. Chunky cable knit sweaters have been a favorite as well while sweater vests have moved very well through the first part of fall. Mini skirts have been great, we are told, with pleated solids and plaids doing best.

Printemps

The best names in the world of fashion are on the floor here and Parisian parents have been snapping up the coolest looks by Catimini, Diesel and Teddy Smith Industry. Ethnic flavors such as frog toggle closures on shearling coats, Anime style Asian dolls on tees and American Indian style braid trims on sportswear separates have been big draws we are told. Diesel’s grown up faux fur collared and lined denim jacket has been selling well as have TSI’s high zipped cargo pants in Mocha/ pink combos. To tie in with the great pants, parents have been gearing towards the collage front tee and the Anime doll screen looks most often. Catimini’s sweater and velvet tunic and patterned pant set has been doing well while also.

Tammy

The best seller list here is a casual mix of fold over fleece pants, woven athletic pants with waist and side taping and denim pants with glitzy trims. Also hot we are told is the faux fur bomber jacket; the last one left standing was on the mannequin at the time of our visit. Denim minis and basic pink and gray tees have been the staple sellers according to the associate.
