It's clear more than ever how essential it is to be eco-minded in the denim industry. The recent Denim by Premiere Vision Fall/Winter 09/10 show, gave us several eco examples throughout the production chain. It's no longer enough just to use organic cotton, though many exhibitors highlighted organic cotton in their offerings. New developments including the use of soy protein fibers, Lyocell linen and recycled cotton is making us look at denim in a whole new way. Several exhibitors boasted reduced water consumption in the washing process. Hardware is also looking to a more eco-minded future, with highlights like tea dyed and recycled paper buttons.
