In contrast with other fashion meccas that are exploding with fresh talent, in Milan we look to the big players who often partake in extravagant productions.

This season was certainly no exception, especially with benchmark events like Valentino’s 45 year anniversary and a ballet staged to commemorate of the tenth anniversary of Gianni’ Versace’s murder. Trend-wise we’re thankful for the modernist Raf Simons who sticks to his own vision far outside from the others. Look to other staple names like Prada for her retro-originals and the pack of designers embracing volume like Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Marni. And look to John Galliano and Balenciaga for some of the most forward ideas – in particular an influx of Japanese and 50s references.
