American Eagle Launches Intimate Expansion

|
“Aerie,” a new line of intimates from American Eagle, will launch for fall with an inspiration from what President and Chief Merchandising Officer, Susan McGalla, calls “sweetly sexy.” The exclusive line will offer an assortment of bras, panties, and loungewear for the 15 to 25 year old girl.
With the expansion on new lines, such as “aerie,” American Eagle also plans to expand their real estate by including the new line in their own adjacent store and select stand-alone stores positioned in high volume regions. One of the first stand-alone stores to open will be located at Haywood Mall, in Greenville , SC. This is not the first collection of intimates for American Eagle, but with much success from the previous in-store lounge wear lines their expectations are high for their new expansion. |

Steve Madden Is Up 8.2% From Last Year
Fourth quarter sales were up at $91.4 million, an increase of 8.2% for Steve Madden this year, beating out last years earning of $84.5 million.
Success came from Steve Madden’s wholesale business, including brands Steve Madden Women, Steve Madden Men’s, Steve by Steve Madden, Stevie’s, SM New York, Candi’s, and l.e.i, which were up 14.7% from last year’s fourth quarter, bringing in $58.1 million over last years $50.6 million. |

Steve Madden’s retail revenues of $33.4 million stayed in competition with last year’s results of $33.9 million earned. Madden representatives believe this is due to their phase out of several items in preparations for their 2006 re-launch of accessories, handbags, and belts.
“There was broad based strength in the business and this enabled us to achieve solid top line growth. Specifically, we drove sales increases in nearly every wholesale segment and successfully introduced a new line, SM New York. Additionally, we achieved a higher gross margin at retail compared to the comparable quarter last year. These factors, coupled with our efforts throughout the year to improve operating efficiencies and inventory management, allowed us to make significant gains in overall margins and the bottom line versus last year,” commented Chairman and CEO Jamieson Karson. |

ALDO launches AIDS Campaign
|
ALDO joins with YouthAIDS to launch a global campaign to spread AIDS awareness. This is the second campaign ALDO has launched worldwide with international celebrities such as Christina Aguilera, LL Cool J, and Elijah Wood, representing YouthAIDS in major fashion markets around the globe. |
|
ALDO has been involved with AIDS awareness since 1985 and raised over $1 million in their campaign for 2005, helping educated of 100,000 young lives in 60 different countries.
General manager of branding and strategic development, Rober Hoppenheim, comments, "When we launched last year's campaign, we set out to deal with the issue of complacency. Our goal was to reach out to young people in a compelling and profound way and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The incredible reaction we received around the world from the public, our customers, our associates, schools and health organizations led us to believe that the campaign message was breaking through. To build on this momentum, we have crafted a second iteration of the campaign that is deliberately edgier than the first. Young people from many different backgrounds are most at risk and we felt it necessary to amplify the message regarding HIV/AIDS in a way that would speak meaningfully to this generation."
