Paris Retail Buzz! April 07,
2003
Spring
has sprung in Paris and at each of the top stops for infants
and toddlers a different group of items is selling well.
There is one common thread though... Pink! It seems that everyones
favorite color this spring is pink from the smallest tees to the
best overalls and everything in between. Take a closer look at
the best sellers from Paris!
Here at Bon Marche, things are in the
pink. According to the associate here, traditional dresses
are blowing out for the spring holidays while pink is the
number one seller for sportier fashions such as twill overalls,
sweaters and French terry creepers. Denim is also still strong
we are told with pretty appliqués being a strong selling
feature. Also on the sellers list are peasant styled layered
looks dresses and gingham and lace trimmed dresses.
AT H and M, more pink is heading to the
register! Pink fleece athletic sets with Mickey embros are
hot but the pink empire dress with the bow at the chest and
heart embroideries at the hem was hotter! Also selling briskly
was the two piece set for infants with the embroidered cardigan
and floral pant. Basic tops have also been key here with the
tank (in pink!), the floral embroidered woven peasant shirt
and the multi button pique trimmed tee at the helm. Lastly,
the very retro side zipped puffy pop over in laundered sheeting
has been a weather buster best seller here we are told!
At Zara the best seller list is a mix
of simple and classic dresses and recolored and updated favorites.
The red and white gingham dress has done incredibly well according
to the associate. Also hot has been the itty bitty ditsy on
white ground with the peter pan collar and the satin bow trim.
The pink and white bias plaid dress with contrast hem cut
was new but was already selling well, according to the associate.
Lastly the lemon yellow sheeting pant with side ties and the
tonal striped long sleeved tee have been great sellers and
demonstrate just how much fun playing with new colors can
be!
