Pitti Immagine Bimbo - Boys

January 16-18, 2004

The Pitti Immagine show January 16-18 was every bit as exciting and rich as we have come to expect from this venue. The runways were trendy yet within the reaches of the market with colors, textures and themes galore. The stands were equally exciting with awesome styling seen at all of the brands on hand. For this week's report, we touch on the key runways and stands from Pitti Immagine Bimbo from Florence. The leading looks are featured in the strips of photos that appear on the page. But just in case you need more photos right now, we have included them whenever possible. Within the next few weeks we will be covering the rest of the childrenswear runways from Brussels and Paris followed by step by step analysis of trends and themes, colors and key bodies from all of the venues combined. We will be culling those reports from all of the photos we will have posted so don't worry about missing the good stuff if you don't have time to riffle through each picture right now. Stay tuned while we do the leg work for you!

Take a closer look at some of the highlights from Pitti Immagine Bimbo:

I Pinco Pallino
At Pinco, color rules for boys. Here we see clever mixes of steely grays with bright oranges or rusty reds with an occasional pop of silver. Smokey blues are paired with tans and charcoal grays and popped with white. Dip dyed sweaters, vertical stripe sweaters and gray velvet pants are the highlight here.

Ice Ice Iceberg
In a word... YUM. Some of the best looking sweaters are here from lofty cable knits to sweater jackets cut with leather. Denim is also treated with some of the same approaches here in kids as it is over in adults. Heavy creases, rips and plenty of vertical texture dominate.

Roberto Cavalli
Again, Cavalli takes an adult stance for his kidswear but he ends up with highly salable and attractive concepts. Denims are colored, overdyed and aged to perfection but in a way that parents won't mistake the bands of color for a flaw. Light weight sweaters are similarly distressed and patched for added appeal. There are chains, key and trinkets throughout as well as a hefty dose of attitude and humor!
