The
Pitti Immagine show January 16-18 was every bit as exciting
and rich as we have come to expect from this venue. The
runways were trendy yet within the reaches of the market
with colors, textures and themes galore. The stands were
equally exciting with awesome styling seen at all of the
brands on hand. For this week's report, we touch on the
key runways and stands from Pitti Immagine Bimbo from Florence.
The leading looks are featured in the strips of photos that
appear on the page. But just in case you need more photos
right now, we have included them whenever possible. Within
the next few weeks we will be covering the rest of the childrenswear
runways from Brussels and Paris followed by step by step
analysis of trends and themes, colors and key bodies from
all of the venues combined. We will be culling those reports
from all of the photos we will have posted so don't worry
about missing the good stuff if you don't have time to riffle
through each picture right now. Stay tuned while we do the
leg work for you!
Take a closer look at some of the highlights
from Pitti Immagine Bimbo:
Agatha rules
with bright colors and splashy yet appealing motifs. She is
the poster person for pairing icy pastels with full forward
brights for a head to toe tonal and eye popping effect. Her
patchworks are sumptuous but not out of the stratosphere in
terms of complexity while her sweater knits are sweet with
hearts and simple shapes repeated throughout. Pompoms, tone
on tone heart prints on denim and snowflakes with hearts were
some of the leading motifs here.
The runway show
opened with young ballerinas twirling and sashaying on the
runway. The wrap sweaters, flounced skirts and knitted leg
warmers could each be part of a day wear outfit as easily
as they could be part of a production of Swan Lake. The dresses
ranged from simple sweater knit tanks to fabulous dip dyed
and very 80's oversized sweaters while velour treated as denim
and snappy "Chanelesque" tweeds rounded out the
leading looks here!
Iceberg covered
some important ground here with husky autumnal cable knits
and animal motifs in grays and neutrals, touched on the cool
element of "Joe Cool" (aka Snoopy) in white, silver
and black and wrapped things up with a snappy fuchsia and
black satin biker babe grouping that is perfect for 7-14 girls!
Laura puts her
knitwear knowledge to work here in creamy, dreamy sweaters
and fringed dresses, frilled sweater dresses and and simple,
geometric fairisles. She also takes leading themes like athletic
and turns sweaters into key trending pieces by styling them
as such. Pink and gray is a leading theme here at LB Dolls!
This line was
by far the most theme oriented of the lines on deck here.
Motor sports, biker babes and little misses were well styled
and well defined. Denim played a central role here in pleated
minis and fur softened jackets. Black and red sporty looks
paired with optical prints, silver and gray sportswear as
well as some smokey blue holiday gear was seen here.
The queen of
the handcrafted look! Airy crochet, softly crinkled velours,
fur trimmed denim and felt came together in a homespun but
not frumpy look. Shelabarger kept her colors ultra caliente
so that her outfits stayed cool. Embroidered flowers, felt
appliqués, crochet flowers at the hems of skirts and
ribbon pull throughs were key details. Needless to say, we
loved the crochet poncho and the crochet dresses as well as
the velour coats and 5 pocket pants.
Cavalli loads
on the details and pulls off a look that is appealing and
fun without being overly mature! Each piece is a master work
of denim washing, knit texture, print combination or silhouette.
In terms of themes seen here, there are too many to mention
but the 80's, Flashdance and Ballet are a good start!
You may want
to take some time to open up some of these shots of key booths
from the show floor so that you don't miss the items and details
in every corner!
