Playtime Paris, presenting Spring and Summer 2009, is one of those shows that you visit and realize that things are good in our industry. You realize that there are still designers out there who are creating wonderful and charming kid's clothes without worrying too much about what goes with what or what the bottom line is going to be; not that these lines aren't fiscally fashionable!! Collections such as Album di Famiglia and Norro are loaded with beguiling fabrics, silhouettes and details that up to this pint were reserved for juniors. At Maan, not a care in the world is detected among the mismatched prints and sweater vests that, despite all odds, look superb when all lined up together. At Gold (and this being an Olympic year we can't help but agree that this line is as good as Gold) details such as jabots, tucks and ruffles used in moderation help to create a grown-up yet charmingly young line. Finally at Quincy, quirky is the way of the world. Funky prints and, yes, bright yellow P.U. jumpers are in the mix!
