This year's Licensing Show was held June 10-12th at the Javitz Convention Center. While this may be the last time the show will be held in New York, (the next show will be held June 2-4th 2009 at the Mandalay Bay) we have seen incredible growth in the size of the show and the size of the licensed market as a whole.

Over 25,000 people attended the show despite sweltering weather in NYC. Over 80% of attendees anticipated closing some sort of a deal over the show's 3 days. With the economy on the brink of a recession, everyone is looking for that edge that places their product ahead of another. Often times having a licensing agreement with a leading star, show or property provides that edge. In 2007, U.S. retail licensing revenue was $107.8 billion, down slightly from $108 billion in 2006, while it was estimated at $195.7 billion globally, according to LIMA (International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association).
