For boys, several key lifestyle trends are coloring the way we are approaching spring. The Green Scene is so important visually and in terms of color and concept that it is applied in two trends; Grasshopper and Gone Fishing. The Transformers trend with all of its new generation transformable and changeable silhouettes is seen as a subtext in Gone Fishing and in Ethnic Nomad while Globalization is seen in the Ethnic Nomad trend in the prints and in the silhouettes. Why do we keep bringing up Lifestyle Trends? Because they help to give us the elbow room we need to take a trend and make it something that our specific market will understand and it gives our audience an anchor to become emotionally involved, based on how they are already feeling! This look is in keeping with what is happening in the junior and the young men’s markets. It has a clever 80’s backbone along with the hip colors and slick silhouettes. Hooded tees will be back with a vengeance as will hooded blazers and light weight trainers with graphic hits. Denim is key here in grey and in the new acid washed finishes. While the paperbag waist is still light years away for boys, do go for a skinny basic silo for right now. The graphics are a mix of eye popping graphic elements, retro text, twisted humor and painterly effects all served up as brights mixed with fun midtones against a backdrop of white, black or silver grey.
