The girl's runways and trade shows offered plenty of key color direction for Fall 2009. Pinks and plums are key stand alone colors and should be the focal point of your prints and patterns while greys continue to dominate as the neutral of choice.
Greens and blues are also strong, not just in a nature story but for the fresh and bright shades that we need to boost all palettes. In terms of trending palettes, there is something for everyone! With the frontier and Boho looks on the horizon, the Boho palette offers neutrals and pop colors that are perfect for the indigenous patterns and rich embroideries that are heading our way. Bright craft offers an offbeat cast of brights and retro pales to play with while the Hippie trend focusses on Beatnik Brights that are saturated and deeply playful. Dusties are back in a big way not only for little girls but for all looking for something softer while for pop fans, the Rock Star color palette offers a narrow but effective cast of greys and brights to convey all musical genres. Finally, Nature's Neutrals is the way to go if you are looking for the quintessential autumnal palette complete with earthy neutrals and fresh greens.

Dusties
This palette offers a soft tonal story centered on key pinks, greys, greens and blues. While this palette stands in contrast to everything else that is coming up, it is going to be where much of the volume will come from! It can be applied to frontier looks as well as to naive nature stories or you can use it as a novel holiday story.
