Mad about it! The brainchild of J.Crew's CEO Mickey Drexler, Madewell is on the brink of a retail success story with 5 stores already open in the US.

Although it is kept relatively under the radar, Madewell looks to fill the niche market for the girl that has graduated from teenage chain stores but can't quite afford contemporary items in stores like Scoop and Bergdorf's 5F. It's NOT a cheaper version of J.Crew at all, though the collection is merchandised to a T and prices are about 20 to 30 percent less than J.Crew. Contemporary items are well designed and meant to be relatively seasonless. Hot items for summer include garment dyed five-pocket jeans, gauzy shirts, drop-waist jumpers and vintage stripe tees.

Stores are located in The Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey, Century City in Los Angeles, 2 locations in Texas and the Fashion Snow mall in Las Vegas.
