80's is a huge category again this season with neon brights, focus on happy faces, 80's iconic trends and bold messages from the era. Guess leads the pack this season with dreamy florals both in an ethnic and in a soft fashion setting. At Zara we found illustrated faces that capitalize on the home grown artist vibe while at Bloomingdales we found another surge of Harajuku Merchandise, this time for younger girls. Large numbers and collegiate references are back as are surf destinations. Garden is a great word to include in both eco and floral concepts while the concept if Green is still best expressed literally in straight forward messages. Pink is huge in prints and in ground colors and can be used on Candy, Soda and Music screens. Licensed looks including Disney, Sesame Street and My Little Pony characters, Tweety by Lot 29 as well as Hannah Montana and High School Musical are still going strong.
