HomeGraphics> Art from Runway and Shows: Tokyo Design Festa

Over the past 12 years, Design Festa has grown to become Asia’s standout art event. Professional and non professional artists display their works from freakish to functional. We’ve always found the show to be inspirational and directional in terms of graphics. Here we take a glimpse at four key art directions seen at the show.

First thing to note here are black and white prints with a splash of bright color. Body parts (faces and lips) are perfect subject matter to exaggerate features. Another point of note is surrealism similar to that of a Dali painting.
Could this be Bob’s Big Boy reincarnated? These computer-generated creatures have us thinking retro Game Boys or futurama!
Street art gets down to business on hats with bold and bright spray paint effects and brush stroke designs.
Still happening! This time on an even larger scale, screen prints are accessorized with topstitch detailing and patches.
