Berlin’s Bread and Butter show is now officially on the books as the must see fashion event of the season thanks to it’s impressive selection of brands present, the impeccable quality of the merchandise shown, the forwardness of the concepts and art put forth by not only the lines on the floor but by the installations throughout the various venues and because of the engaging and uninhibited nature of the visitors on hand.

For the childrenswear market, BBB offers a unique perspective on what is up and coming in the junior and the young men's markets. This show is all about hot denim, new art, merchandising that reflects the true nature of the young customer, sportswear with twists and turns from the sporting world and color, color, color!

« Knit Tops »

The tee still rules the planet with new art and colors on deck. Neon and punk inspired looks are newest with airbrushing and mixed messaging as key art direction there. The vintage tee is still very much an issue with punched up pastel tees with monochromatic art making the statement. Childish tees in stripes with or without over screens are also new. Fleece continues to be a hot topic with novel placement, neons, appliqués and again, kiddie art and humor, on the menu.

This category continues to explode with new and exciting direction being taken all the time. ‘Hand’ stitched details look new while oversized patches and screened appliqués are another tack to take. Screening on either a solid shirt or a patterned one is something to do immediately while schmaltzy patches and tape trims add to the punch of any shirt.

« Denim »

The newer brands are showing retooling, retro washes and holes while patching and repairing is the hottest new look. The patches can be screened or in contrasting denim washes. Old favorites such as Wanted are showing the denim lifestyle with an accessible street edge.
