The premiere of BREAD & BUTTER BARCELONA made an incredible impact to say the least! Numerous exhibitors, visitors, and guests celebrated the “tradeshow for selected brands” in the Catalan capital. B&B organizers celebrated with Barcelona’s mayor Joan Clos Down at the foot of Palacio Nacional de Monjuic on the opening night. The show was held July 8-10, 2005 and showcased collections up to Spring 2006.

A word from BBB’s Karl-Heinz Müller: We always believed in the success of BREAD & BUTTER BARCELONA and we always were positive with regards to the location. We have reached our high targets. More than that – our expectations have been highly exceeded. Our prediction, to cover the Southern European countries through Barcelona, was confirmed.

Barcelona was strongly adopted and drew over 45,000 visitors proving BBBarcelona’s international appeal. The number of Italian visitors, who were always very well represented in Berlin, also increased as well as French visitors.

BBBarcelona strengthened the brand BREAD & BUTTER and therefore the position of Berlin. The fashion segments represented have the strongest growth in the market, Barcelona cannot substitute Berlin, it was absolutely complementary. Both BBBs offer an exciting and differentiated brand mix.

Fashionsnoops’ view: Only at BREAD & BUTTER will you find such an amazing variety of exhibitors and unique design and branding concepts. B&B’s debut in Barcelona was the perfect component for an even broader assortment of vendors. From the exquisite ambiance to the people that walked the show and the merchandise, be sure to take an in depth look at our report below and our new reports that are highlighted in the Graphics and Accessories sections.

KNIT TOPS

Stripes, stripes, stripes! Plays with contrasting color is an important detail to keep in mind. Loose jersey knits have an 80s feel to them with the wide scoop neck and dolman sleeve. Trim finishes in metallic, ruffles and contrast stitching are of note.

WOVEN TOPS

Woven tops span both the ultra-casual and dressy sides. On a casual note, worker shirts and western gingham snap tops prevail. Silk and satin fabrics are delicately embroidered and beaded. Floral and paisley prints are also a popular motif in natural hues.

SWEATERS & HOODIES

The popularity of cardigans is taken over by the zip up sweater! Zigzag, fairisle and abstract prints are the heavy influences here.
