Kmart stores has been in a relative holding pattern with respect to it's performance. Comparable sales for May and June dipped by 3.9% over last year's effort. Other retailers such as Target and Kohl's also experienced dips for the same time period so the issue may be more on the level of consumer confidence than on the products on the retailers floor.

Our competitive analysis showed that the mix on the floor was still evolving slowly with a few new names and some catchy product in the mix. Dickies and Athletec continue to be the hot movers in mens while in women's it's Attention and Athletec that have been looking best. In girls, Route 66 and Thalia Sodi continue to dominate while in boys it's all about house brands Xtreme Limit and Athletec. In infants and toddlers, licensed products from Disney and Kids Headquarters were strongest with the house brand Wonder Kids picking up the volume basic business.

Every now and then we will find a great item in the Kmart mix and find that it blows out quickly. This proves that Kmart can move merchandise when it looks right. Here is a round up of the movers and shakers at Kmart:
