Bigger, better, and more MAGIC! Held August 30th to September 2nd at the Las Vegas Convention Center, over 3,300 exhibiting companies welcomed retailers to the largest and most comprehensive apparel and accessory showcase in the world, MAGIC Marketplace. It featured 1,200 new exhibitors, more space, and finally combined WWDMAGIC under one roof with the rest of the MAGIC shows. Pre-registration was also up 7% from February 2004’s 90,000 total attendees.  Merchandise on hand was in full gear for Spring 2005, with great runway shows showcasing many of the season’s key trends.

All things pretty! Trickling down from the junior scene are ultra-girly details like puff sleeves, baby doll tops, and frilly skirts. Even the knit scene is pretty with layered, dance-inspired styles and fun appliqués. Hot bright hues are used across the board. Tees are full of attitude and embellishment and perfect topped with screen printed denim. Take a look at the trend roundup below!

Coming at the girl’s market is this fresh and feminine look from juniors. You can expect more ruffled tanks, baby dolls, and skirts in the seasons to come. take that same thinking and apply it to your every day basics for updates like the puff sleeved and scooped neck tee seen here!

Tropical by nature these hot shades are just a hint at the brightness ahead. Think bright on bright or with white.

Vintage style art and finishes are still strong while the tee colors are getting brighter and closer to candy shades. Needlepoint style art and tie ins to cool denim are coming at us from juniors while cute composition and attitude verbiage is a strong feature for girl’s licensed product.

Denim rules for all girls and all sizes. The jacket is back in full force with screening, spraying and appliqués on deck. Denim skirts are short and snappy with flounces and frills key. The jean is ripped, repaired, cropped, screened, vintage or updated with fresh pockets and tape trims.

The knit business is reinventing itself after a few seasons of athletic styling. While varsity looks will always be strong, newer concepts such as feminine, layered, balletic and bright knits are on the rise. From juniors we are seeing a direct tie in with denim appliqués and tie dye looks that could be great for girls!

This line is looking so very L.A. with screened denim, trucker hats, trainer jackets and heavy branding. Their saucy cut and sew jackets and sherpa trimmed corduroy toppers are best!

The tee is still very much an instant message vehicle in girls. The colors are uplifting and fruity with attitude slogans, retro characters and one color art in tow. Flower pins, stones, sequins and cut and sew inserts are very hip!
