This is one of the industry’s favorite trade shows because it houses some the world’s best kidswear. For fall 2008, the show offered plenty of key brands including many from the adult world.

Alberta Ferretti, Calvin Klein, Guess, Woolrich and Miss Blumarine all showed their girl’s collections here. Grown up (but not tarted up) denim, shine, animals prints and sleek sportswear were on deck. Other designers such as Monnalisa, Save the Queen and Nolita Pocket offered junior inspired looks with plenty of edge and forward thinking fabric combinations and silhouettes. Take a look at the brands presented both on the runways and in the exhibitor sections. Then check back often as we expand our coverage of this and all trade shows in the coming weeks.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada: Employing her signature style, de la Prada offers brightly colored and blocked tunics, sportswear and fleece. While she is bright every season, this season her colors are 100% on the mark with slightly washed shades of pink and coral in her mix.

Alberta Ferretti: While her color palette may be remarkably austere, what she does with it is heartbreakingly cool. Every piece is exquisitely detailed from the ruffles to the bows and from the flounces to the use of shine.

Brooksfield Junior: Masculine and feminine meet here with shine finishes and remixes of preppy and polo silhouettes.

Calvin Klein: Klein offers subtle yet truly American looks here. Using blue and black denim as a backdrop he offers buttery pink sweater knits, grey mix light-weight knits and some casual cream toppers for fall.

Lilica Ripilica: Ripilica is not a name we turn to for styling, but we do love their color usage for fall. Mid brights, dusted plum tones and soft pastels against a backdrop of dove grey are the standouts.

Miss Blumarine: This collection would work on all sizes right through to juniors, thanks to an exceptional eye on details and lovely prints and patterns. Gold and animal prints still feel fresh here, especially when coordinated with similarly colored florals. Plush pinks, soft blues and a red-grey-black and white story dominate.

Miss Grant: Again, the details are to die for; Sequined empire cut yokes, marabou trimmed skirts and enough metal shades to satisfy anyone!

Monnalisa; Our favorite designer this season! With an eye on what girls really want, Monnalisa offers hip teeshirt dresses, sweater dresses, armwarmers, yoked tops and mixed pattern outfits that make plaids and florals behave together!

Woolrich: Preppy anyone! Woolrich takes perennial favorites and sauces them up. Cable sweaters are cocoon like, polo shirts get a raw edge jabot (very cool) and puffer vests get a cool glossy finish to make them hip again.

Save the Queen and Nolita Pocket are the best if you are looking for edgier and more forward looks for the 7 up girl. For younger girls, Brums offers twists on traditional looks while Sweet Life seems to be emulating the American fleece formula closely for their girls looks! Disney Gold is here as well with their posh infant looks that are branded but feature very few images of the famous Mouse and his Wife! Let’s see in the coming seasons how that concept fares with shoppers…
