MAGIC got down to business for Fall 07 - the core junior business was again the focus at the show, instead of the contemporary category which seems to have found a more suitable home at sister show Project. Dress Me

The answer is yes! It is still definitely a dress market and styles run the spectrum from playdoll to prairie. Jersey is an essential fabrication particularly important for dresses - whether color blocked, solid or heavily printed. Mixed fabrications and contrast yoke inserts are interesting ways to get things started.

Jumpes & Pockets
Another product of the dress movement is jumpers and tunics. It makes perfect sense then to throw in knit or woven options when it comes to jumpers - and make them the core item for layering. Smock tops with pockets are also key, and there's a lot to be talked about from contrast fabric to buttons and different shapes.

Prints Galore
Listen up - this will effect your season! Prints are everywhere! Take any classification and spruce it up with prints. Two strong influences are geometrics and 70s. So think Pucci and fast! By the way, this trend coincides perfectly with the hot dress category.

The Short Of It
It's important to mention shorts as a key category, especially since in the past seasons it's been about cropped pants, capris, etc. Here are some examples which keep shorts going (especially for the younger tween market) from madras plaids to twill solids with contrast belts. Think shorter for this season with a more casual beach appeal (although there are still some bermudas floating around!).
