Magic is one of the largest and certainly one of the most talked about RTW trade show in the world. Fall '08 exhibitions were no exception. In this saturated maze of exhibitors, we bring you the latest, most forward designers.

Overall dominant trends included the voluminous silhouette still popular from last season, with jersey and dressy woven tunics. Embellishments were seen with placed embroideries, or appliqués. Graphic attention was paid with trompe l’oiel and exaggerated placement screens that featured musical instruments and rock images, as seen at Cecico. The look of luxury played a huge role with cut-out work, extra pleating and fur trim on tops, vests, dresses and separates with a higher-end contempo feel as seen at Fumblin’ Foe, Bikkembergs and Hempel Korea. Color statements also played a huge role at Karlie, who featured bold color blocking, mixed print patterns and ikat-like watercolor florals in their hefty collection of dresses. More sophisticated black, white, grey and cream neutrals where also key. New player, Garcon featured cleaner lines with the most attention paid to fabrication and texture. Crisp, techy fabrics with matte luster, crochet, ombré jerseys and pebbled surfaces were key throughout the collection. Updated casual tees from Jaime Kreitman were done in sequin appliquéd burnouts and sheer bubble silhouette tops. More from selected exhibitors below.
From zen to zany, Magic runs the gambit for graphic inspiration, Brands like Chaser grabbed up every great liscence. Ethical tee shirt companies like E.K.G. took the Eco route, depicting nature imagery and green slogans. While other more urban exhibitors, namely those in street wear like Milkcrate Athletics, chose familiar 80's characters, bright 90's colors and bold all over geometric patterns.
