The unveiling of Spring '09 collections at WWDMagic this year were filled with affordable, trendy offerings that are perfect for both layering or wearing alone. Ethnic printed scarf style tops, Lumberjack shirts in casual fabrics, Dip Dyed knits in longer lengths and Asymmetrical style skirts and bottoms were some of the show's real highlights. Transparent shirt dresses and other loose fitting silhouettes in silk blends were perfect pieces for the transitional weather Spring brings. There were a number of brands showcasing their Latex leggings which sold across the board from black to silver. Overall its safe to say that you can find just about every haute trend you desire, and easily get the luxe look for less.

The Streetwear area is always happening at MAGIC and this time around it got an extra boost from the new S.L.A.T.E. section – a place where skate, surf and street combined. The graphics on hand were vast and we mean it when we say there was something for every taste. The skulls, after several seasons of popularity have almost disappeared, but when they appeared it was often in a dark manner – cue Armory Distribution with gun and weaponry imagery or Gan Eden which actually means heaven but brings in gloomy birds, skulls and paint splatters. Along the dark lines, check out FINN which adds a strong neon pop element to comical graphics like the skull statue of liberty. Ed Roth also beckons along a twisted road, known for his monster-like "anti-Mickey Mouse graphics. But it's not all. The retro 90s element continues with early hip-hop references at Originators and Pyknic Clothing with fruity graphics in neon hues. The original touch of an artist also drew in crowds at Karma 4K. Let's not forget the well-done clean political graphics of ES Charlie or the layered messages of Dirty Jeenius. We told you, something for every taste!
