It was great to see select Project Mens exhibitors step up their sportswear offerings with casually sophisticated items, the strongest categories versatile sweaters and outerwear. Items were refreshed with rugged distressed looks and interesting dye effects, seen at Ichabod Barcelona and Cockpit. Transitional pieces from Rex showed that items once reserved for “preps” can be updated with oversized placement screens and light stud embellishment. Lighter weight jackets from Kid Dangerous and Subscript were most popular for the sportier, street set.

Amongst the overwhelming amount of overdone denim, select Project denim exhibitors were all about added value in fabrication choices. Japanese selvedge denim and bleached washes were prominent at Studio M Japan and Versus. Colored washes and traditional vintage looks were seen at Th13ten as well as feel-good blended weights from Mynk Hauteur showed as key features.
Aside from Sportswear, Project always brings out the cream of the crop in the world of graphic inspiration. In this category we saw themes ranging from sharp two-color screens with more modern looking art from Earth Happy Britto to tongue-in-cheek screens filled with witty humor, see Emperors New Clothes and Minoritees. The showiest graphics came from Eriffs Ad New York and Subscript with clean, bold blocks of color upon color.
