We are pleased to bring you a new color report defining key color expressions from the NY, London, Paris and Milan runways.

Ladies Spring 2010 color really pushed the envelope on new bright hues and also introduced richer tones traditionally reserved for Fall palettes.

On the cool side of the palette we have cerulean blue which replaces last Spring's aquas and turqs and makes way for more organic blues from the Mediterranean. Another spin off from aqua is a more green-cast spearmint which looks as if it will become a fresh new color expression. Cobalt explodes as a key fashion color and should be used in fashion items to pop the selling floor. Green hits its peak on trend this season with chartreuse green emerging as the fashion green and olive as the base. Traditionally a Fall color, spruce green is blue-cast and rounds off the last expression of this trend color. Purples and violets are finally in the spotlight and must be distorted into all product categories.

On the warm side of the palette we see vibrant bubblegum, fuchsia and geranium hopefully lifting the spirits of a depressing economy. Canary yellow is also a vibrant pop color but should be downplayed from last years sea of yellow. Dijon mustard tones continue from Fall and become less saturated and more neutral. Very whitened icy pastel shades are key and are certain to be leveraged for Easter selling periods. Base colors open with whites that are bleached not optic. While pure white was not the main feature this Spring, the use of white in combination with black in blocking and banding made the monochrome palette a strong expression. Sophisticated nude tones although very saturated on the runways must be used thoughtfully in assortments. Chocolate browns and rich vanilla bring luxury tones to the remaining base shades.

Spring 10 Olive is yellow-cast and mossy. This color should be leveraged above and below the waist.
