AFRICANA

Africa is again the topic of much buzz this season, perhaps a result of yearning to escape from the West's current economic climate. Junya Watanabe leads the movement with brilliant ethnic prints involving tribal reference, gingham checks and various fruits, and topped off the look with elaborate head wraps. Homespun denim worked well next to wrapped and twisted tops and dresses. Other designers nodded to Africa as well, including Tsumori Chiasto and Yigal Azrouel, both who also experimented with ethnic prints and patterns on fluid silhouettes.
