CASTAWAY

A beaten, weathered and disheveled look is sweeping the season thanks mostly to Prada's collection, which was controversial because of its austere (and not drop-dead gorgeous) appearance. It's part escapism from the expected round of trends that simply reference past decades. A raw and rugged effect is achieved with beaten crinkled fabrics that also show up at Burberry, fittingly to a sludgy color palette. Ann Demeulemeester is another designer who got the look down with sloppy layers and items that wrapped around the body just enough to stay put. In terms of details, look again to Prada, who coupled the island-struck feel with looks in various stages of undress, makes way for simple tie closures and exposed undergarments. A raw earthy palette encompasses the look.
