Around the globe, everyone knows that Ed Hardy knows how to throw a party. And at Bread & Butter Barcelona, the party was on the runway. It's been interesting to watch the brand go global and see how it evolves graphically and trend-wise, yet always sticking to easy items from tees to hoodies and hats. Spring 09 is looking to the tropics with the main graphic of choice being large hibiscus florals. The show opened with bright floral and sea life patterns on large silk wraps, but there were plenty more graphics in store. Perhaps the most forward items were the leggings that were mostly solid but then had tattooed flowers on the sides. Graphics kept busy, as expected and included subjects like butterflies and masquerade faces and more Ed Hardy staples like peace signs and skulls. Metallic screens appeared towards the end on top of leopard in metallic blue, and a bit of gold on coral and black. As for jazz, the rhinestones took a back seat this season (though they appeared in small doses) and let the busy graphics do the talking. Aloha!
