Around the globe, everyone knows that Ed Hardy knows how to throw a party. And at Bread & Butter Barcelona, the party was on the runway. It's been interesting to watch the brand go global and see how it evolves graphically and trend-wise, yet always sticking to easy items from tees to hoodies and hats. Spring 09 was right on trend with the European runways in that it had a strong Indian (and spiritual) influence. Ed Hardy took it to Bollywood in his own way, including graphics of elephants and Buddhas' adorned with bold florals in even bolder colors. The spiritual part came in with repeat Celtic cross patterns and the Virgin Mary surrounded by roses. But there were also some staples like jaguars, snakes and flaming hearts. A few swim trunk styles drew upon hibiscus florals to make a splash.
