Constanza Martinez of Muchatela crosses the border between art and design, fashion and products, painting and textiles. And now, after a decade, she opens her own shop in Argentina.

Muchatela's main focus has always been hand-made silkscreened fabrics applied in fashion and home products. The new space, which serves as a store and showroom, is a bright ground floor flat in the trendy area of Palermo Viejo. The display is simple yet complex with wooden shelves and various sized tables. Silkscreen lamps hang from the ceiling and shelves, while paintings and collages cover the main wall. The effect is that differing items such as t-shirts, tablecloths, lamps, collages, cushions, wall-paper, bags, curtains and trays show how much they belong all to the same style and the creator. The style is barroque, ecclectic and pop, though the items are simple in shape and structure (like the shop itself). The inspiration for the shop comes from 50s illustrated magazines mixed with motifs of the ancient textile traditions of Chinese and Pre-columbian cultures. And the concentration in one space makes it all the more easy to appreciate the work. Muchatela, Costa Rica 4448, Ground Floor, C1414BSF, Cap. Fed., Argentina, www.muchatela.com.ar
