A new kind of department store landed in Brooklyn. Dan Nadel, the publisher behind PictureBox art, music, comic books and photography opened up a departmental store full of goodness.

Though it's quite compact, the store is stocked with all PictureBox pubs as well as a nice international selection of comics, prints and books. The space design includes psychedelic rainbow art over the walls and painted line drawings over the window front. Works include that of the artist Gary Panter, Joe Bradley (from Cheeseburger) and Bjorn Copeland (from Black Dice) to name a few. Though it's only open Friday – Sunday, PictureBox hosts events such as mini art exhibits and book signings. Quite a happening (and inspiring) place! PictureBox Departmental Store, 121 Third Street, Gowanus, Brooklyn, NY.
